VA Motel Armed Robber Gave Officers Fake Name — Now He's Being Sought: Police

A Virginia man is being sought by police after giving officers a fake name in an armed robbery last month, authorities said.

Lawrence Dawntai Johnson told Prince William County police his name was Raquelle Darris Johnson while being arrested on Thursday, Aug. 25 for a knifepoint robbery at the Potomac Inn in Woodbridge, PWC police said.

A search of Johnson — who police found during a fight — turned up a knife matching the description of one used to rob a man staying at the hotel around 3 a.m. that morning, police said.

Phillip Edward Douglas was also at the scene of the fight, and he was arrested for his involvement in the robbery, authorities said.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Aug. 31 officers were informed that Johnson gave the wrong name to police. Charges against Raquelle Darris Johnson have been dropped, and an arrest warrant has been issued for Lawrence Dawntai Johnson after consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, police said.
